Course Description:

A platform is a group of technologies that are used as a base upon which other applications, processes or technologies are developed. In personal computing, a platform is the basic hardware (computer) and software (operating system) on which software applications can be run. Computers use specific central processing units (CPUs) that are designed to run specific machine language code. The main aim of this course is to enlighten the I.T. and computer Science students on the various platforms that they will be interacting with during their course of study. The study of this unit will entail: Overview of Operating System as a Platform, Computing Platforms, Database Platforms, Storage Platforms, Application Platforms, Mobile Platforms, Web Platforms, API platforms, Security platforms, Internet of Things Platforms, AI Platforms and Gaming Platforms.
