This course offers a comprehensive and practical exploration of theatre, building on foundational knowledge. Students will delve into the historical development of drama, examining key movements from Medieval and Renaissance periods to the modern era. Through a combination of theoretical analysis and practical application, the course will cover essential stagecraft skills, including performance, dance, choreography, and vocal techniques. A significant component of the course is a hands-on experience in play production, where students will take on various roles both on and off the stage. This course aims to provide a deeper understanding of the role of theatre in society and the major theoretical issues that have shaped its evolution.
Learning Outcomes:
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
* Analyze and interpret dramatic texts from different historical periods (Medieval, Renaissance, and Modern).
* Demonstrate proficiency in fundamental stagecraft skills, including acting, voice, movement, and mime.
* Apply practical knowledge of dance and choreography within a theatrical context.
