The course entails: definition of concepts of planning and economics of education; historical background of planning and economics of education; approaches in educational planning; education challenges in developing countries; demographic aspects of educational planning in developing countries; measuring access, efficiency and equity; an introduction of economic concepts and their relevance to education; the concept of consumption and investment in education, spending in education, demand and supply of education; leading economic issues and their relevance to education in Kenya
